Boeing has received a potential $27 million task order from the U.S. Special Operations Command to provide non-recurring engineering services ahead of the production of Block 2 MH-47G helicopters.
The Defense Department said Thursday that Boeing will use the funds to prepare for the manufacturing of MH-47G aircraft using reworked, recapped and salvaged contractor and government furnished components.
DoD added the company will incorporate the components into an airframe for the Technology Applications Program Office.
SOCOM obligated the full amount of the task order from fiscal 2017 procurement funds at the time of award.
Boeing will perform majority of work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
