Metal Shark has won a potential $54.6 million contract from the U.S. Navy to construct near coastal patrol vessels in support of the U.S. Southern Command‘s partner nations and the foreign military sales program.
The Defense Department said Wednesday Metal Shark will provide up to 13 NCPVs, electro-optical infrared sensors, diagnostic equipment, in-country reactivation, crew familiarization and test support to help meet FMS and counter-narcotics requirements.
The small business set-aside contract has a base value of $16.2 million and includes sales to the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Honduras.
Work will occur in Jeanerette, Louisiana, through June 2019.
The Naval Sea Systems Command received six proposals for the contract and will obligate $4 million at the time of award from FMS funds.
