ViaSat has received a four-year contract to provide small tactical terminals for AH-64E Apache Guardian aircraft Boeing is producing for the U.S. Army and foreign military sales clients.
ViaSat said Tuesday it will deliver at least 534 KOR-24A Link 16 terminals to Boeing under the contract’s base period of performance.
“This award, along with other customers for the STT, has caused us to initiate a pre-planned production ramp up to approximately 35 terminals per month,” said Andy Kessler, director of ViaSat’s next-generation tactical datalink systems business area.
“Coupled with more than 600 terminals already in the field today, we expect to eclipse 1,000 STTs deployed worldwide by early in 2018,” Kessler added.
KOR-24A terminals are designed to operate with the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminal, MIDS Joint Tactical Radio System and other ViaSat non-developmental item products.
ViaSat aims to help Boeing implement technologies that will work to increase the lethality and survivability features of Apache aircraft as well as support communications between airmen and soldiers on the ground.
