Lockheed Martin‘s Sikorsky Aircraft subsidiary has received a $55 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to obtain long-lead items needed to build four CH-53K helicopters.
The Defense Department said Monday the Navy will use the service branch’s fiscal 2017 aircraft procurement funds to cover the full obligated amount for lot 2 CH-53K low-rate initial production materials.
Sikorsky will perform work under the modification in Stratford, Connecticut, through March 2022.
DoD granted Milestone C approval to Sikorsky’s CH-35K in April after the U.S. Marine Corps completed production readiness and initial operational assessments on the helicopter acquisition program.
