Harris to Help Sustain Space Systems Under Air Force Contract Modifications - top government contractors - best government contracting eventHarris has received two contract modifications valued at $44 million in total from the U.S. Air Force to provide sustainment services for space systems.

The Defense Department said Tuesday Harris will carry out space control depot support and increase sustainment services for Space Superiority Systems under a $35.5 million modification.

Work will occur in Palm Bay, Florida through Jan. 31, 2018.

The Air Force also awarded Harris an $8.5 million modification to perform weapon systems management; core sustainment; requirements development modeling and analysis; engineering; and technical support for the Ground-Based Electro-Optical Deep Space Surveillance system, DoD added.

GEODSS is built to deliver space situational awareness data to aid in monitoring of track space objects.

Harris will perform work under the second modification through April 14, 2018 in Colorado, Diego Garcia, Hawaii and New Mexico.

The Space and Missile Systems Center will obligate a total of $10.2 million at the time of award from fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds.
