General Dynamics‘ Electric Boat subsidiary has received a $46.2 million contract modification to conduct nuclear-related maintenance and repair efforts for operational submarines at a U.S. Navy base in New London, Connecticut.
The Defense Department said Tuesday Electric Boat will also help the Navy manage the service branch’s Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department at the New England Submarine Base.
The contract covers project management, technical analysis, engineering, planning, training, inspection and nuclear services in support of operational nuclear submarines.
Electric Boat will perform contract work in Groton, Connecticut, through April 2018.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $5 million at the time of award from the service branch’s fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds.
