AT&T has partnered with Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama to integrate internet-of-things technologies intended to support operations and infrastructure at the installation.
The company said Wednesday it will install network-connected sensors at Maxwell AFB and develop proof-of-concept demonstrations of smart perimeters, gate monitoring, notifications and fleet management, among others.
Col. Don Lewis, commander of the 42nd Mission Support Group, said the project will support efforts to optimize operations, conserve resources and develop new ideas to execute missions at the base.
AT&T will work with Maxwell AFB’s command staff as well as representatives from the Air University and other U.S. Air Force personnel under the project.
The base houses the Air University, the 908th Airlift Wing, the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center’s business and enterprise systems directorate and more than 30 tenant units.
