SOCOM Lists Technology Areas of Interest in Updated BAA - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Special Operations Command has updated a broad agency announcement seeking to add new capacities to the Special Operations Forces’ warfighters in eight specific technology areas, Shephard Media reported Friday.

Scott Gourley writes the G-2 appendix added to the “Advancement of Technologies for Use by Special Operations Forces” BAA identifies specific areas of interest that will support the Rapid Capability Insertion business process.

SOCOM is interested in “technologies with a small form factor that rapidly identify personnel, reduce false alarm rates and/or offer novel approaches at short to long distances in all environmental conditions,” according to the report.

The command also seeks technologies designed to help boost data correlation, identification, processing speed, sensitivity and software applications capacities.

Shephard Media reported technology areas of interest to SOCOM include:

  • Biometrics/Forensics and Sensitive Site Exploitation
  • Data Exfil
  • Force Protection/Counter-Measure
  • Signal Detection and Exploitation
  • Sensors
  • Support and Ancillary Equipment
  • Tagging, Tracking and Locating

RCI seeks projects that start at a minimum Technology Readiness Level 3 and completed products at TRL 7 in each of the identified areas.

Responses to the BAA are due May 26.
