RaytheonÂ will sponsorÂ a national cybersecurity competition for college students from more than 220 schools in the U.S.
The company said Thursday it will serve as a title sponsor of the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition overÂ the next three years and provide technical resources, mentors and employee volunteers to helpÂ develop students’ skills.
Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, said NCCDC aims to educate future cyber defense professionals andÂ prepare them for threats in the real world.
Wajsgras is a recipient ofÂ Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017.
NCCDC Director Dwayne Williams said more than 14,000 students have participatedÂ in CCDC events overÂ the past 11 years.
This year’s competition will begin with 10 regional contests in March and April andÂ regional winners will compete in the national tournament in San Antonio, Texas fromÂ April 13 to 15.
