Parsons has collaborated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s civil and environmental engineering department to conduct a day-long workshop on research projects related to infrastructure, smart cities and transportation.
The company said Thursday its leadership representatives and the university’s alumni, faculty and postdoctoral scholars examined the parallels between current industry needs and ongoing research efforts during the workshop.
“The unique nature of MIT’s culture creates an environment where students from all over the world collaborate to tackle big problems, and that culture is also important at Parsons,†said Biff Lyons, executive vice president of Parsons’ security and intelligence business.
The Infrastructure, Smart Cities and Transportation workshop reflected a continuation of the Parsons-MIT relationship that began when company founder Ralph M. Parsons donated funds to increase the size of a university laboratory back in 1965.
