A Northrop Grumman subsidiary has been selected by Chile’s civil aviation authority DGAC to supply an air traffic management communication system for use on the country’s airport network.
Northrop said Friday its Park Air Systems business will provide a turnkey system that consists of eight Sapphire very-high-frequency and ultra HF ATM communication systems as well as training, installation and commissioning support services.
DGAC provides air navigation service to a network of airports that include Antarctica-based Teniente Rodolfo Marsh Martin airport, six airports in mainland Chile and another airport on the Pacific island of Robinson Crusoe.
Park Air Systems aims to deliver the ATM communication equipment to DGAC by the end of the year.
The subsidiary works with Chile-based airport services company Aerotech to provide close support services to Northrop’s clients.
