A team of U.S. Naval War College students has won first place at the Atlantic Council-sponsored Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge in Washington.
The U.S. Navy said Monday the three-day contest was held at the American University’s Washington College of Law and drew 48 college teams from 32 schools across the world.
Participants were required to write a policy brief in response to a scenario in which a major cyber incident occurred, the Navy added.
Each team was also tasked to present four policy options and recommend one option to address the fictional cyber attack.
Lt. Cmdr. Jason Fahy, leader of NWC’s winning team, said his team members have diverse backgrounds that helped the group to “approach the problem in a different way.”
The group also included Lt. Cmdr. Jeff Vanak and Air Force Majs. Benjamin Ramsey and Josh Burger.
