An L3 Technologies subsidiary has secured a $37.3 million contract from the U.S. Army to deliver multioption and point detonating/delay fuzes to Saudi Arabia.
The Defense Department said Tuesday L3’s fuzing and ordnance systems business will supply 38,284 M734A1 and 165,426 M783 mortar fuzes under the foreign military sales contract.
Work will occur in Cincinnati, Ohio, through May 31, 2019.
The Army Contracting Command received one proposal for the firm-fixed-price contract through an online solicitation and will obligate the full award amount from fiscal 2016 and fiscal 2017 “other” funds.
M734A1 works to provide height-of-burst modes at seven feet for 60 mm and 81 mm mortars and at 14 feet for 120 mm mortars.
M783 is designed to incorporate environmental safety features, eliminate the need for safety pull pin and replace M935 and M745 fuzes.
