Harris has been chosen to provide a next-generation voice over internet protocol communication system for Taiwan’s air defense service.
The company said Tuesday its IP-based Voice Communication System for the 21st Century offering will help modernize the air defense system in Taiwan and reduce the country’s reliance on traditional point-to-point communications platforms.
Harris will install VCS21 systems across multiple facilities across Taiwan, including an initial 140 controller working positions that will offer users access to radio and telephony sites.
“The Harris VCS21 system now supports air defense operations in Asia along with air traffic management operations in Europe and North America,” said Ed Zoiss, president of Harris’ electronic systems business.
