A Harris-developed wideband manpack radio system has secured a Type-1 certification from the National Security Agency for the transmission of classified images, maps and other data from beyond-line-of-sight environments.
Harris said Monday the RF-300H high-frequency manpack radio under the Falcon III product line offers data transmission capacities of up to 10 times faster than previously used radios and is designed to be 20-percent smaller and lighter.
RF-300H also serves as an alternative platform to satellite communications for beyond-line-of-sight communications, the company noted.
Chris Young, president of Harris’ communication systems business unit, said the NSA certification works to help the company continue its push to deliver secure communications technologies to build on warfighter readiness.
