Tony Scott, former federal chief information officer and administrator of the Office of Management and Budget‘s e-government and information technology unit. is set to join Washington-based Baldrige Foundation in April as a member of the board of directors.
Al Faber, president and CEO of the Baldrige Foundation, said in a statement released Tuesday that Scott played a key role in the organization’s efforts to develop and promote its Cybersecurity Excellence Builder framework.
“When Tony agreed to bring his tremendous knowledge of cybersecurity issues to our board, it demonstrated his commitment to the modern-day relevance of Baldrige,” Faber added.
Scott previously served as CIO at VMware before former President Barack Obama nominated him for the federal CIO post in February 2015.
Before VMware, he held a similar role at Microsoft as well as served in various positions at Bristol Myers Squibb, General Motors, Sun Microsystems and the Walt Disney Company.
The 35-year IT industry veteran earned his bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of San Francisco and a juris doctorate degree from Santa Clara University.
