Alvie Johnson, principal business developer for the U.S. Army at Leidos, has received the Women’s Appreciation Award from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International in recognition of his leadership and efforts to support the career advancement of female professionals.
Johnson accepted the award during the AFCEA West event held in San Diego, Leidos said Thursday.
Gerry Fasano, chief of business development and strategy at Leidos, said the award acknowledges Johnson’s efforts to encourage women to meet their business goals as well as his dedication to advance STEM education.
Johnson mentors female professionals on career development and serves as a science, technology, engineering and mathematics education advocate.
He has been an AFCEA member since 1982 and helped develop a program that sought to provide grants and scholarships to students that plan to take up STEM courses during his time as president of the association’s Belvoir chapter.
Johnson is regional vice president for AFCEA’s National Capital Region.
His career prior to Leidos includes time as senior business development for the Army information technology services at Lockheed Martin, senior associate at Booz Allen Hamilton and group sales manager at AT&T.
