AECOM has appointed Carolyn Flowers, former acting administrator at the Federal Transit Administration, as leader of the company’s North American transit practice.
She brings knowledge and experience to her new position that will help clients to address public transportation challenges, Fred Werner, president of AECOM’s design and consulting services business, said in a statement published Tuesday.
“Most importantly she brings a unique understanding of client needs and stakeholder expectations in the areas of policy, public-private partnerships and creative collaboration among various stakeholders and the business community,” Werner added.
Before FTA, Flowers was CEO and director of public transit for the Charlotte Area Transit System in North Carolina and co-chairman of the American Public Transportation Association’s Reauthorization Task Force.
She started her career in public transportation at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where she stayed for 19 years and held various roles such as chief operations officer of LACMTA.
