The Defense Information Systems Agency has granted Microsoft‘s government cloud platform an information level impact 5 provisional authorization that offers Defense Department personnel an option to use the cloud service to manage controlled unclassified data.
Tom Keane, Microsoft Azure general manager, wrote in a blog post published Friday the company worked with DISA and other mission partners to help Azure Government meet cloud computing for infrastructure, platform and productivity adoption requirements.
The company also launched its DoD Regions program to offer computation, database, networking, storage, full service level agreements and dedicated Azure Government support to validated DoD customers.
Kurt Kolcun, vice president of Microsoft’s U.S. public sector business, said in a separate blog entry posted Friday that DoD also granted accreditation for the company’s Azure Government and Office 365 U.S. Government Defense offerings for CUI management.
Kolcun added four DoD entities, including the Defense Logistics Agency and U.S. Air Force, committed to adopt Office 365 U.S. Government Defense while other military, unified combatant commands and defense agencies aim to utilize the company’s DoD Impact Level 5 PA capacities.
