The General Services Administration has kicked off its search for industry sources of software-as-a-service offerings for administrative functions in a request for information issued by the agency.
GSA said Wednesday its unified shared services management office seeks information about modular and interoperable ways to deliver common technology services and about the Federal Integrated Business Framework‘s viability as a basis of SaaS development.
The goal is to explore public-private partnership funding models and drive agencies to share risk and limit information technology capital outlays, the agency added.
“This is an important step toward understanding how we can change the way government does business internally,” said Beth Angerman, executive director of USSM.
Responses to the RFI are due Feb. 28, GSA stated in a FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday.
