Gemalto has been selected to help Uganda’s directorate of citizenship and immigration control deploy, integrate, maintain and train the country’s immigration officers to operate a new visa management system.
The company said Thursday its Coesys Visa Management platform is designed to integrate the visa and permit issuance process with biometric enrollment and works to help authorities manage the visa life cycle.
The Uganda DCIC will adopt the system as part of efforts to boost national security, facilitate travel and protect travelers’ identity from theft issues.
Ari Bouzbib, senior vice president of government programs at Gemalto, said the system fits with an ongoing regional effort to deploy a single tourist visa program across Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
The Coesys Visa Management system also includes a link to an integrated control list from sources around the world, an alert system built to detect and manage travelers an an Automatic Fingerprint Identification System-secured traveler database designed to match, search and share electronic fingerprints.
