Jeffrey Bleich, a group CEO and partner at law firm Dentons, has joined the board of directors at Herndon, Virginia-based information management technology developer Nuix.

Nuix said Tuesday that Bleich will fill a board seat vacated by Eddie Sheehy, who stepped down as CEO of the company and resigned his position on the board.

Tony Castagna, Nuix co-founder and chairman, said Bleich’s international cybersecurity experience and insights into the government sector will contribute to Nuix’s U.S. and global reach.

Bleich was the U.S. ambassador to Australia from 2009 to 2013 and special counsel to President Barack Obama during the first year of the latter’s administration.

He also previously served as chair of the California State University’s board of trustees; president of the California State Bar; president of the Bar Association of San Francisco; and chair of the American Bar Association’s Amicus Curiae committee.

Nuix plans to launch an international search for a CEO and said that Castagna will perform many of the current CEO duties until the company finds a permanent replacement.
