BAE Systems has received a potential five-year, $49 million contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to deploy and maintain systems built to secure information sharing across government networks.

The data-sharing technologies that BAE is tasked to deliver under the Systems Engineering and Evaluation System Analysis Worldwide Cross Domain contract will work to support the Defense Department, the intelligence community and other government agencies, the company said Thursday.

“We’re helping our customers innovate advanced cross domain technologies to enhance virtualization, boost data processing and support the integration of machine learning solutions,” said DeEtte Gray, president of BAE’s intelligence and security sector.

AFRL intends for those systems to mainly secure the transmission of sensitive messages, images and video and audio data.

BAE added it will also help the lab research and develop new tools to meet future needs and address technology gaps.
