Thales‘ defense and security business unit has secured a $14.1 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide helmet mounted sight and display system depot-level specialized test equipment in support of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Defense Department said Friday the contract covers support for the Optimized TopOwl helmet mounted sight and display system of the Marine Corps’ H-1 aircraft.
Thales will also provide installation and integration services; technical data rights for technical specifications, drawings, schematics; and required procedures for depot level support, DoD added.
Work will occur in Bordeaux, France and San Diego, California through May 2019.
The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate the full contract amount at the time of the award from the Navy’s fiscal 2015 aircraft procurement funds.
Thales-built TopOwl features visor-projected night vision technology designed to help increase situational awareness of rotor-wing and fixed-wing aircraft pilots.
