Maximus has been selected as a regional 2016 Employer of the Year by the Texas Workforce Commission’s Texas Workforce Solution – Vocational Rehabilitation Services division for efforts to employ and retain persons with disabilities.
The government services provider said Wednesday a special committee selected the awardee from a pool of nominees that was submitted by TWS-VRS regional staff and approved by executive management.
“The passion of our staff in helping government agencies support people with disabilities is one of the hallmarks of Maximus,” said Tom Romeo, president of Maximus’ federal services segment.
Maximus received the award during a ceremony on Oct. 27, 2016 that included company representatives and TWS-VRS staff.
The company received recognition from the former Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Vocational Rehabilitation program for efforts to promote the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the workplace and communities.
DARS programs were transferred to TWC in September through legislative action.
Maximus obtained an award for its Irving, Texas-based project that works to support a government healthcare program.
The company worked with TWS-VRS to recruit and train disabled persons that could assist the program’s beneficiaries.
