Siemens has received a series of Energy Savings Performance Contracts to implement energy and water conservation measures at federal agencies.
Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens Government Technologies, said in a statement released Monday the company will work to help federal agencies cut carbon emissions and meet the White House’s sustainability and energy conservation requirements through the contracts.
Humpton cited other opportunities in the federal government such as energy security efforts at military bases, the U.S. Army’s combined heat and power program, and initiatives to protect government networks from potential cyber attacks.
Among the agencies that awarded ESPCs to Siemens include the Army Garrison Hawaii, National Park Service, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Army Corps of Engineers and the Corpus Christi Army Depot.
The contract with the Army Garrison Hawaii covers the installation of building control systems, solar thermal hot water platforms and LED lighting systems, while the ESPC with the Army Corps of Engineers covers boiler updates at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in Ohio.
Other projects of Siemens include the placement of power generator step-up transformers at Davis Dam in support of the Bureau of Reclamation, provision of lifecycle maintenance and acquisition support to the U.S. Air Force and Special Operations Forces through its Teamcenter software and collaboration with the U.S. Navy to facilitate maintenance modernization efforts at public shipyards.
SGT’s Dresser-Rand business also secured a potential $5 million contract to build a 1 megawatt HydroAir turbine as part of the Energy Department’s Water Power R&D program.
