Metron to Design Autonomous Tech for Navy UUVs - top government contractors - best government contracting eventMetron has won a potential four-year, $33.9 million contract to help the U.S. Navy design, test and implement software to facilitate autonomous operation of unmanned undersea vehicles.

The company will also design and integrate government-provided hardware to help address autonomy goals for various military missions, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

Work will occur in Virginia, California and Maine through March 2020.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract has a base value of $29.8 million and was awarded under the Office of Naval Research’s long-range broad agency announcement.

The Navy obligated $3 million in fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
