Lockheed Martin has joined the Augmented Reality for Enterprise Alliance at the sponsor level and received a seat on the global membership funded organization’s board of directors.
AREA said Tuesday Lockheed will work with AREA enterprise members such as Bosch, Boeing, Huawei and Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ Newport News Shipbuilding subsidiary to develop an ecosystem and establish best practices for AR.
“[Lockheed brings] long experience with and a keen understanding of the tools, applications, and implementations of AR in the enterprise,” said Mark Sage, AREA executive director.
“Their collaboration with AREA members in defining this emerging industry through research, networking, education and best practice is a welcome addition,” he added.
AREA works to advance the integration of enterprise AR through the formation of an ecosystem for companies, providers and non-commercial organizations, as well as assist companies that look to invest in AR technology.
