Lockheed Martin has kicked off construction of a program management facility at the Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park in Utah to support the U.S. Air Force‘s project to develop a follow-on intercontinental ballistic missile system.
Lockheed said Friday it will move into the company’s program management office at Falcon Hill by August 2017 as part of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent competition and seeks to create collaboration opportunities with employees in the Hill Air Force Base area that currently manage Minuteman III ICBM sustainment program for the military branch.
The company signed a lease agreement with real estate developer Woodbury in August for the 25,000-square-foot facility.
“The new facility at Falcon Hill is representative of Lockheed Martin’s commitment to building our presence in Utah to support Air Force intercontinental ballistic missile contract competitions,” said John Karas, a vice president and GBSD program manager at Lockheed.
Lockheed plans to collaborate with General Dynamics, Draper Labs, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Orbital ATK, Moog and Bechtel in pursuit of the GBSD system development contract.
