Intel has made several investments in support of a computer science education program introduced by President Barack Obama dubbed Computer Science for All.
The company said Monday it made the investments in support of Intel’s $300 million Diversity in Technology program that has committed to diversify the pool of available technical talent.
The investments aim to establish a data-based approach to the development of CS programs as well as boost accessibility of computer science education to women and Native American high school and university students.
Intel added that investments include a $1 million contribution to the Technology Pathways Initiative that looks to bolster women’s participation in CS fields through interdisciplinary degree programs expected to launch in 2017.
The company noted that it will fund the development of a “culturally sensitive” high school computer science curriculum as well as collaborate with the American Indian Science and Engineering Society to offer financial support to Native American university students for four years.
3M, CME and Dell|EMC will also offer financial aid to Mission Measurement to help fund the development of a CS and STEM genome that will analyze, collect and provide access to information on more than 400 studies from an approximately 2,000 CS and STEM program evaluations.
