A Huntington Ingalls Industries division has secured a $51 million contract modification to provide life cycle engineering services for the U.S. Navy‘s San Antonio-class amphibious transport docks.
HII said Friday its Ingalls Shipbuilding business will also provide post-delivery planning, integration, research, material support, supply chain management, maintenance and training support for certain San Antonio-class shipboard systems.
Ingalls Shipbuilding President Brian Cuccias said the company has delivered 10 San Antonio-class ships and HII shipbuilders will apply necessary knowledge and skills to carry out the technical updates.
The 684-foot-long, 105-foot-wide San Antonio-class ships are designed to transport Marines, equipment and supplies through air cushion or conventional landing craft and amphibious assault vehicles.
