Darius Adamczyk, president and chief operating officer of Honeywell, has been appointed to serve on the industrial conglomerate’s board of directors.
Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote said in a statement published Monday that Adamczyk’s election to the board represents a key step in his transition to the chief executive role.
The company selected Adamczyk to succeed Cote by March 31, 2017 and the latter will continue to serve as executive chairman of the company through April 2018.
Adamczyk previously served as president and CEO of Honeywell’s performance materials and technologies business and president of the company’s process solutions business.
He also led Honeywell’s scanning and mobility business following the 2008 acquisition of data capture and collection technology developer Metrologic.
Adamczyk also worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, Ingersoll Rand and General Electric.
