The General Services Administration has awarded White Construction a contract to build a 305,000-square-foot federal courthouse building in San Antonio, Texas.
White Construction is scheduled to finish the project in November 2020, GSA said Thursday.
The courthouse will have inside parking spaces that will be located at the former City Police Headquarters site along 214 West Nueva Street.
“Through the partnerships developed with the Courts, GSA was able to move forward with this important project,” said Sylvia Hernandez, GSA regional administrator.
The federal judiciary is currently located at the John H. Wood Jr. U.S. Courthouse, the Adrian A. Spears Judicial Training Center and the federal building in San Antonio.
GSA said the new courthouse project will consolidate operations of all district courts with eight courtrooms and 13 chambers for 13 judges.
The Wood Courthouse and the Spears Training Center will transition to the city of San Antonio in exchange for the former City Police Headquarters site following the federal judiciary’s transfer to the new courthouse.
