General Atomics' Certifiable Predator B for UK Air Force Could Carry MBDA Brimstone Missiles - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.K. defense ministry could integrate an MBDA-built missile into General AtomicsCertifiable Predator B unmanned aircraft system as part of the Protector remotely piloted air system program of the British air force.

MBDA said Dec. 8 it will work with MoD, the Defense Department and General Atomics’ aeronautical systems business to potentially integrate the Brimstone missile into the Certifiable Predator B as well as conduct trials and firings.

General Atomics landed a $127.6 million contract from MoD to modify the company’s current drone technology to develop the Protector RPA system.

Brimstone is designed to engage targets through both man-in-the-loop and autonomous post-launch guidance in all weather conditions.

The missile worked to intercept maneuvering targets during a series of trial firings aboard the MQ-9 Reaper UAS in 2014, MBDA noted.
