A team of comprised of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Turner Construction has been selected to design and build the U.S. Naval Academy’s academic building for cyber studies, computer science and other related disciplines.
SOM said Thursday the Hopper Hall will be built to support the Naval Academy’s programs on the knowledge, study and research of cyber warfare and designed to boost project-based learning curriculum at the school.
The 206,400-square-foot building will feature classrooms, teaching and research laboratories, offices, multipurpose space, an observatory, a research and testing tank and a central hub for collegial gatherings.
“Our design for Hopper Hall will serve the Naval Academy’s mission to equip a new generation of leaders with the knowledge and resources to protect the nation against 21st-century threats,†said Roger Duffy, a design partner at SOM.
