Thales has secured an order to develop and deliver three instrument landing platforms to the U.S. Air Force.
The Thales-built Deployable – Instrument Landing System is a mobile system that works to help military pilots land aircraft at fixed bases and tactical airfields during low-visibility weather conditions, the company said Wednesday.
The company will set up a production line at its Clarksburg, Maryland-based facility to facilitate the production of D-ILS in 2017.
Thales has provided air traffic management platforms to the Defense Department, Federal Aviation Administration and airports for more than eight decades and has deployed over 7,000 navigation systems worldwide.
