Airbus and Boeing have received separate contracts from Singapore’s ministry of defense to provide helicopters to support transport activities of the country’s armed forces.
The ministry said Monday it chose Airbus’ H225M medium lift helicopter and Boeing’s CH-47F heavy lift helicopter to replace the Singaporean air force’s Super Pumas and Chinook platforms following a rigorous evaluation process.
The military branch will use H225M and CH-47F helicopters to address lift requirements during search and rescue, aeromedical evacuation, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
The CH-47F is equipped with an integrated digital cockpit management system, a common aviation architecture  cockpit and a cargo-handling system.
The H225M is designed for demanding missions and has been deployed to tactical and crisis environments.
