A U.S. subsidiary of geostationary satellite operator SES has received a potential five-year, $15 million contract to provide managed satellite communications services for the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
SES“™ government solutions business will use its network of satellites to help BBG broadcast U.S. civilian content to international audiences as well as provide satellite connectivity to news bureaus and distribution hubs, SES said Monday.
The firm-fixed-price task order has a base term of one year and four option years and was awarded through the Custom COMSAT Solutions contract vehicle.
Pete Hoene, president and CEO of SES GS, said the company will work support BBG through its global satellite network designed for video and audio broadcast programming.
BBG is an independent agency that is responsible for U.S. civilian international media.
