The National Kidney Foundation will host the 36th Annual Masquerade Kidney Ball to be chaired by SAP NS2 CEO Mark Testoni Saturday night at the Washington, D.C. Hilton. Guests can expect an evening of education, entertainment, and inspiration.
The Masquerade Kidney Ball will feature a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, musical entertainment, award presentations, and a mission appeal.
The National Kidney Foundation will hold an auction of many as 140 items between the live and silent bid periods. The items up for auction range across beauty, health, fashion, food and beverages, travel, sports, arts, culture and unique experiences. Some highlights include a Zamboni ride and suite tickets at a Washington Capitals game, a visit to the set of NFL Today, private sailing lessons, VIP tickets to LIVE with Kelly and Michael, and travel packages across the country at fine hotels.
The musical entertainment for the night will be the American rock band THREE DOG NIGHT. Best known for their hits “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)â€, “Joy to the Worldâ€, “Black and Whiteâ€, “Shambalaâ€, and “Oneâ€.
The National Kidney Foundation Mission Appeal will also feature at the event. This year, attendees will learn about the Kearney
family and their 10-year-old son Kevin, who suffers from a rare form of kidney disease. Kevin and his family struggled for five years to get a proper diagnosis of his condition. When Kevin was eight years old, the Kearney family learned that he had nephrocalcinosis, a disorder that causes an excess of calcium to deposit itself in the kidneys. Nephrocalcinosis inhibits Kevin’s ability to participate in many activities with his classmates, requires a special diet and could lead to the growth of cancerous tumors to develop in his kidneys. During the Mission Appeal, attendees will have the opportunity to make a 100-percent tax deductible donation to the NKF, which is where Kearney family was able to turn to when they felt they had no other resources. Additionally, in partnership with the Jennifer Baker Memorial Fund, there will be an opportunity for guests to make a contribution that will provide a teddy bear to pediatric kidney patients in the NKF community.
