Lockheed Martin has invested $1.4 million in CarteNav Solutions through Canada’s Industrial and Regional Benefits Investment Framework program to support the latter company’s development work on its flagship intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance product.
CarteNav said Wednesday the investment covers two years of development efforts on CarteNav’s AIMS-ISR mission system software that works to deploy hosted sensing, computing and communication technologies on aircraft, vehicle or vessel platforms.
CarteNav President Paul Evans said the company will use the funds to AIMS-ISR’s capacity to integrate with and support airborne surveillance radars.
Evans added Lockheed’s assistance will help CarteNav to address the needs of military, government and commercial customers that require ISR platforms for various security and public safety missions.
The investment supports Lockheed’s industrial and regional benefits obligations under terms of Canada’s acquisition of 17 Lockheed-built CC-130J Hercules aircraft in 2010.
Nova Scotia, Canada-based CarteNav offers mission and sensor management software for airborne, land, and maritime environments.
