Lockheed Martin has handed over a C-5M Super Galaxy airlifter to the U.S. Air Force Reserve Command’s 433rd Airlift Wing at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
Brig. Gen. James Fontanella, Force Generation Center commander, led an An Air Force Reserve Command aircrew to ferry the aircraft from Stewart Air National Guard Base, New York where it received interior paint restoration and its Texas state flag tail, the company said Tuesday.
It is the fourth C-5M to be assigned to Lackland and was previously based at the Westover Air Reserve Base in Massachusetts.
The airlifter has been in service since 1988 with an estimated 18,950 recorded flight hours.
