A Kratos Defense & Security business unit has participated in the U.S. Air Force‘s Black Dart technology exercise in Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and launched a swarm of 113 small unmanned aerial system sorties.
Micro Systems flew the swarm for 23 launch events within more or less a minute of the scheduled launch time during the exercise, the company said Wednesday.
“Micro Systems is proud to support the Government with new technologies to simulate this emerging threat and support their efforts to develop counter-UAS capabilities to keep our homeland and warriors safe,” said Kevin Ferguson, a senior vice president at Micro Systems.
The Black Dart exercise was led by the Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Organization in an effort to help the government, warfighters and businesses in efforts to test new technology and develop detection, identification, tracking and engagement procedures for UAS.
