Cubic‘s transportation systems business supports a Microsoft-led global campaign to help government agencies, businesses and citizens build “vibrant” communities with technology.
The CityNext program aims to combine technologies and other systems in efforts to connect the public sector, industry and people through services intended to facilitate development of sustainable environment for communities, Cubic said Thursday.
“Cubic and Microsoft have been working at full speed for several months to introduce our alliance to existing and potential customers and we have secured projects in North America and Australia,†said Cubic Transportation Systems President Matt Cole.
The two companies have also showcased the CityNext campaign at the Smart Cities Expo in Barcelona to demonstrate the partnership’s vision to help cities predict and plan for economic and modernization and challenges.
Cubic also developed a NextCity framework to integrate travel data, payment, customer experience, operations and analytics for all modes of transportation as well as support back office data from participating agencies through an Azure cloud-based hosting environment.
Cubic and the University of Melbourne signed an agreement in October to develop a laboratory that will facilitate testing and implementation of connected transport along with urban analytics in a real-world environment.
