The Defense Information Systems Agency and Boeing have developed a mobile device designed to help military commanders transmit and receive top-secret messages, Defense One reported Nov. 1.
Patrick Tucker writes the Boeing Black mobile phone works with virtual private networks and mobile device management platforms and has a dual-SIM functionality that allows users to use both commercial and government networks.
Army Lt. Gen. Alan Lynn, director of DISA, told Defense One that Boeing Black is under the testing phase with Navy Adm. Michael Rogers, head of the Cyber Command and National Security Agency, as one of the device recipients.
Lynn said the mobile phone works like a virtual desktop infrastructure and has “a large amount of encryption,†according to the report.
