BlackBerry has secured a new cyber certification from the U.K. government after a series of tests conducted by authorized external testers that included internal network scans, account security verification and tests on defenses against malicious software installation.
Adam Boulton, BlackBerry senior vice president of security technology, writes in a blog post published Friday the company received the Cyber Essentials Plus certification and an accreditation as a certifying body for the Cyber Essentials certification.
“We’ve already helped government departments, product suppliers, manufacturers and administrative organizations achieve Cyber Essentials accreditation, and we’re excited to continue to help our customers and industry partners improve their cybersecurity programs,” said Boulton.
“The base Cyber Essentials certification covers a wide range of security processes, including account management, firewall configuration, device configuration, backup processes and other security-related configurations.”
