AeroVironment has unveiled an integrated commercial information system comprised of a drone and a cloud-based data analytics platform that will work to generate actionable intelligence in real time.
The Quantix drone is designed to combine vertical liftoff and horizontal flight functions as well as “land now” and “return home” command safety features, AeroVironment company said Tuesday.
AeroVironment added its Decision Support System uses research and algorithms to create  datasets and analysis of assets such as agriculture fields, vineyards, bridges, railroad tracks, pipelines and roads.
AV DSS is built to integrate data streams from various types of sensors and data collection tools and store image data for historical trend analysis, the company noted.
Wahid Nawabi, AeroVironment president and CEO, said the company’s commercial information solutions business combined Quantix’s remote sensing and surveying functions with AV DSS’ cloud-based data analytics to support customer operations in various industries.
AeroVironment will begin to deliver Quantix to customers in spring 2017.
