websiteSalient CRGT has secured a contract of undisclosed value from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries to modernize the association’s web application that works to help track and recover stolen materials.

The company said Tuesday the contract covers application development, data hosting and information technology modernization to support ISRI’s ScrapTheftAlert.com tracking application.

Salient CRGT will form connections to law enforcement networks such as the FBI‘s National Crime Information Center, National Data Exchange and the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System to support the modernization effort.

The company added it will connect STA.com to Salient CRGT’s Voyager Query for Law Enforcement platform to open a portal where authorized users can inquire about data in other restricted systems.

STA.com is built to help law enforcement personnel, theft victims and recyclers to post alerts of stolen materials, use the search function, upload photos, see updates and share confidential information through a private portal for law enforcement.

The web app has supported the recovery of $2 million in stolen materials to date, the company said.

ISRI has 21 chapters that represent approximately 1,300 companies that process, broker, and consume scrap commodities which include metals, paper, plastics, glass, rubber, electronics and textiles.
