Saab LogoSaab has secured a $25 million contract to design and build an integrated combat system for integration into two replenishment vessels that Navantia will build for the Australian navy.

Saab said Friday the contract also covers procurement of combat system equipment such as helicopter control radar and decoy systems as well as systems engineering services.

“Saab will deliver an integrated combat system based on the latest Saab 9LV Combat Management System,” said Thomas Kloos, head of combat and C4I systems within Saab’s surveillance business.

Most of the system engineering work will occur in Adelaide, South Australia, while installation and acceptance tests of equipment will take place in Spain.

Saab noted its 9LV naval combat management system is currently used on Australia’s Anzac– and Canberra-class ships.
