Northrop Grumman has completed the delivery of the initial production unit of a two-axis digital rate sensor that works to stabilize a set of mast-mounted sensors on a ground vehicle.
The Northrop-built LRS-2003 rate sensor is based on the company’s LRS-200X suite of rate sensors and is designed for use in gimbal stabilization as well as in missile, remote weapon station and torpedo applications, the company said Monday.
Dean Ebert, vice president of navigation and positioning systems at Northrop’s mission systems business, said the company’s rate sensor platform works to support weapon systems across various environments.
The company added that LRS-2003 is also intended to support electro-optical/infrared camera, turret and radar stabilization.
