L-3 Communications has completed a U.S. Air Force security certification process for the company’s GPS system for military users.
L-3 said Wednesday its Military Code GPS User Equipment is built and certified through the Air Force’s MGUE program administered by the GPS directorate of Los Angeles Air Force Base’s Space and Missile Systems Center.
An independent government team ran the certification assessment of L-3’s GPS User Equipment and focused on the product’s security design, L-3 added.
The security standards aim to protect the integrity of navigation and timing systems and secure critical information within GPS User Equipment, L-3 noted.
The company said its subsidiary L-3 Interstate Electronics Corp. will perform work on the GPS project.
L-3 IEC is part of the precision engagement and training sector within L-3’s electronic systems business segment and provides positioning, navigation and timing products for programs such as the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Ballistic Missile weapon systems.
